Mayor Faulconer Announces Expansion of Dreams for Change Safe Parking Program Operated at JFS
We are incredibly thankful to Mayor Kevin Faulconer and the City of San Diego for their support in expanding the Dreams for Change Safe Parking Program operated at JFS.
With the help of the City, we are doubling the capacity of the program, which offers families living out of their vehicles a safe place to park at night, as well as supportive services to help them transition back into permanent housing.
The City’s funding will provide 80 additional parking spots, including 20 new spaces at our Joan & Irwin Jacobs Campus and a new satellite location at Aero Drive in Kearny Mesa, with additional staff and parking.
We are grateful to Councilmembers Chris Ward and Chris Cate for their help in put this life-changing partnership in motion, as well as to MG Properties Group for investing in a full-time housing specialist to help participants at the JFS campus move into housing more quickly.
We invite you to read the official press release from the City of San Diego, and follow the links below for press coverage of the program’s expansion.
