Your generosity enabled us to set records, with more than 600 guests
contributing more than $1 million to serve the most vulnerable and needy
in our community. We’d like to extend a special thank you to our
Underwriters and the Gala Committee, without whom this event would not
have been possible.
By supporting this year’s Gala, you have supported the thousands of
people whose lives have been enhanced by JFS and Jill Borg Spitzer’s 26
years of incredible leadership. We hope you will continue to share in
the success of JFS as we carry on Jill’s important work of repairing the
world in the years to come.
Our ability to be there for the community depends directly on the
community being there for us. Thank you for sharing your heart with us

In 1984,
when Jill started at Jewish Family Service of San Diego, the agency had a
staff of 20, an annual budget of $500,000, and focused on family
counseling. But things were about to change.
As
Executive Director, Jill began focusing on emerging social issues that
were impacting the community. For instance, Project SARAH, a response to
domestic violence. Jewish BIGPals, a mentoring program for young boys
and girls. Senior Centers, to cope with the isolation endured by older
adults living alone. Hand Up Youth Food Pantry, an innovative food
distribution program managed by teenagers learning to “give back” to the
community.
Legacy.Today, Jewish Family Service has an annual budget of $20 million with
more than 50 programs, including a nationwide car donation business.
Under Jill’s leadership, and in partnership with astute lay leaders, a
dynamic staff, and a generous community, Jewish Family Service is
acknowledged as a preeminent leader in the local and national social
service field. Most importantly, Jill has helped us all redefine what
community really means.
