coachella valley services
In 2005, homeless services were identified as a significant community need by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments. Since that time, we have partnered with JFS of the Desert to serve homeless individuals in the Coachella Valley We don't just give people a hand out—instead, we help them get back on their feet. By offering transitional housing, case management services, job placement assistance, daily living skills, budgeting instruction, housing placement assistance, and much more, we've helped thousands of individuals and families get off the streets and back to living self-sufficient, successful lives.
Programs and Services
Desert Horizons Transitional Housing Program - Desert Horizons is a transitional housing program in Riverside County that places single, homeless individuals directly from the streets and emergency shelters into transitional housing units. Our staff provides crucial supportive services to help transition individuals into permanent housing.
This program is funded through a collaborative effort with Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Desert Vista Permanent Supportive Housing Program – Desert Vista
provides services to 40 homeless individuals with disabilities. The
program’s purpose is to provide housing and comprehensive services to
those with extensive histories of homelessness and various barriers to
obtaining and retaining housing. The program conducts extensive outreach
and provides intensive case management, as well as an array of
supportive services to assist residents in obtaining and maintaining
permanent housing and maximizing their autonomy and independence.
Roy's Desert Resource Center - Roy’s Desert Resource Center, named in honor of the late County Supervisor Roy Wilson, is the first comprehensive homeless center built in the Western Coachella Valley. Located in Palm Springs, the center offers shelter and numerous supportive services to 90 homeless individuals each night. Desert SOS staff members assist clients in regaining their stability in the community, as well as securing safe and affordable housing.
This regional effort has been spearheaded by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments’ (CVAG) Homelessness Committee and is supported by the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), local cities of the Coachella Valley, and numerous private and public partnerships.
