Support & Psychotheraphy Groups
You don’t have to do it alone.
If you’re going through a major transition, why do it alone? Join one of our support groups and get the motivation and encouragement you need. Groups give you a chance to talk with other people who are going through the same situation and feel the same way. You can make connections, share feedback, and get advice. Groups offer a certain emotional comfort and moral support that individual therapy can’t do.
We offer professionally facilitated support groups across San Diego County to address many different issues. Group times and locations vary. Advanced registration is required for all support groups by calling (877) 537-1818.

Postpartum Support Group JFS Turk Family Center New group starting Friday, April 12 • 11:45am–1:15pm Motherhood is an experience that is often long awaited. Stories of what it will be like to have a child are mostly filled with themes of happiness, joy, and laughter. The reality for 1 in 8 mothers, however, is that pregnancy and childbirth arrive with more confusion and pain than joy. Postpartum depression is experienced by 10−20% of new parents. Women with postpartum depression report feelings of sadness, confusion, and irritability. They often feel discouraged and overwhelmed by these emotions. Unfortunately, many women suffer in silence, ashamed for feeling this way. While there is no single explanation as to why someone develops depression or anxiety after childbirth, it is important to know that it is not your fault and you are not alone. With support, education, and treatment, you can get better.
This group is open to new mothers experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression or anxiety. Join a community where you can be understood, learn strategies to manage and cope with your emotions, and gain insight into symptoms and recovery.
Moderator: Gretchen Mallios, LCSW Sliding Scale Fee (most insurance accepted) Babies up to 12 months are welcome
