Junior Leaders empowers middle school students, grades 6-8, to learn about social issues facing their community and teaches them how to make a difference. With the guidance and support of JFS staff and JFS Teen Leaders, Junior Leaders will participate in 6 sessions each year to develop their leadership skills though hands on learning and service projects.
Junior Leaders was developed in 2018 to engage all middle school students in San Diego. In its first year Junior Leaders enrolled 26 students. In 2019, participants will learn about Intersectionality, Hunger and Food Insecurity, Gender Equity, Tips for Success in middle or high school, and participate in group volunteer projects to benefit the community.
