Together, with our entire community, we mourn the loss of Joan Jacobs z”l, philanthropist, community leader, and longtime friend of JFS. We send our heartfelt condolences to the Jacobs Family. May her memory be for a blessing.
Together with her husband Irwin, Joan made an indelible impact throughout San Diego and the entire country. Over the years, they have been instrumental in establishing a culture of philanthropy for our region and beyond. In 2016, Jewish Family Service was honored to name our headquarters the Joan & Irwin Jacobs Campus. Most recently, we were humbled to celebrate Joan and Irwin for their substantial contributions to the community at the 2023 Heart & Soul Gala.
Joan’s generosity and leadership continues to help thousands of families access critical services and support. Her kindness, warmth, and generosity will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to Jewish Family Service, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Food Bank, La Jolla Playhouse, Museum of Contemporary Art or Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center.
