Joan Jacobs z”l was a visionary philanthropist whose belief in the power of bringing people together continues to guide us. Inspired by her grace and generosity, this event carries forward her spirit and invites us to engage in conversation about the strength we find in ourselves and in one another.

This year, JFS welcomes keynote speaker Marlee Matlin, an Academy Award-winning actor and advocate whose career has redefined representation for the Deaf community in film and television. She made history as the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Children of a Lesser God. Most recently, she starred in the Best Picture-winning film CODA that brought Deaf stories and performers to the forefront of global audiences. A proud member of the Jewish community, Matlin has spoken openly about how her values have shaped her commitment to justice, inclusion, and giving back. Beyond her work on screen, she is an author and activist, using her platform to advance accessibility and equity. Her powerful voice and inspiring story make her an unforgettable speaker!
