How can I make my donation?

Credit Cards

Make a safe and secure online donation today by clicking here. Here you may make one-time, recurring, tribute, and designated gifts.

JFS accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.

To make a credit card donation by telephone, please call (858) 637-3300.

 

On-Line Banking or Bill Pay 

Conveniently schedule donations through your bank’s online banking or Bill Pay website. To discontinue a scheduled bill pay that you’ve set up through your own bank, please contact your bank.

 

Recurring Gifts/Momentum Monthly Giving Program

By committing to just $5, $10, $18, or more a month, you can give a family the momentum to build a better life. To schedule a monthly gift, visit jfssd.org/momentum.

 

Donor-Advised Fund 

You can make a donation through your donor-advised fund by requesting a grant distribution to Jewish Family Service of San Diego.

 

Wire/Electronic Transfer

Please call the Development Office at (858) 637-3300 for wiring information to provide your bank.

 

Stocks/Securities

You may be able to make your charitable dollars go further by donating appreciated securities, such as publicly-traded stock, bonds, or mutual fund shares to Jewish Family Service. When you make a gift of appreciated securities you enjoy a double benefit: You receive a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value and you pay no capital gains tax. How can I update my donor information or preferences?

Please contact Donor Services at (858) 637-3300, or fill out our contact form and let us know about any changes to your information and preferences on how we communicate with you.

How can I be sure my online donation is secure?

Jewish Family Service takes every precaution to protect our donor’s information, please refer to our privacy policy. The security and confidentiality of your information is our highest priority. We use industry-standard technology to protect your information and provide a safe and secure environment for online donations. We will not sell, trade or share your personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations, and we will only share personal information if you have given us permission to do so.

Will I receive a tax receipt after I make my gift?

Yes. After making your online donation, you will receive an immediate confirmation and a thank you message. The Development Office will acknowledge your donation with a print letter containing tax information sent by mail as soon as possible. Please be sure to keep a copy of your donation letter as your official record.

Is my donation tax-deductible? What is Jewish Family Service non-profit tax ID number?

Jewish Family Service of San Diego is registered as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Contributions to JFS are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. JFS’s tax identification number is 95-1644024.

What is Friends of the Family?

Friends of the Family are special donors who give $1,200 or more to JFS’s Annual Campaign. Friends of the Family share a deep commitment to strengthening San Diego. Together, they offer life-changing support to thousands of San Diegans who turn to JFS every year. As a Friend, you’ll receive special invitations to film screenings, hosted receptions, and educational panels offered exclusively to our Friends throughout the year.

What is an unrestricted gift?

An Unrestricted gift is a gift made by a donor with no limitations on how the gift is to be used. Unrestricted gifts allow Jewish Family Service to use your financial support to drive community impact by putting your dollars to use where they can make the greatest difference in clients’ lives.

Can I Allocate or Designate My Gift To A Specific Project/Program?

Jewish Family Service accepts funds given by a donor for a specific purpose or to support a particular program or department. JFS Development Staff can assist you in choosing programs and services that both meet your interests and meet JFS strategic priorities.

How can I make a tribute gift to honor or memorialize someone?

Donating in someone’s name is a meaningful way to celebrate a family member or friend, or remember a loved one. You can enter information in the tribute section of the donation form. You may also have JFS mail a card to the honoree or to the family of the person you are memorializing. Mailed cards may take up to five business days to arrive.

How do I take advantage of my company’s matching gift program?

Many employers have a company matching gift program. It’s easy to double or even triple your donation to JFS, giving your gift even greater impact at no additional cost to you. Does Jewish Family Service offer planned giving?

Jewish Family Service offers a wide range of planned gift options for you to choose from including bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and retirement assets. Making a planned gift to JFS helps ensure our ability to respond to the challenges we will face in the future. How do I include Jewish Family Service in my will or estate plan?

Can I contribute a gift-in-kind or a gift of my time and talents?

Do you still accept furniture donations?

Unfortunately, we suspended our Furniture Donation Program in 2018. We greatly appreciate the time you invested in contacting us about your donations and apologize for the inconvenience. If you would like to connect to another charitable furniture donation program, we recommend the San Diego Rescue Mission, AMVETS, San Diego Habitat for Humanity, or The Salvation Army.
