Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS) has earned a coveted 4-star rating for the eighth consecutive year from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator which highlights the work of efficient, ethical and open charities.

JFS received Charity Navigator’s top rating by demonstrating sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency. Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates an organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.

Only two percent of the charities rated by Charity Navigator have received at least eight consecutive 4-star evaluations indicating JFS outperforms most other charities in America.

“This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Jewish Family Service of San Diego from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust,” said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator.

As a client-centered, impact-driven organization, JFS focuses on three impact areas: empowering individuals and families to move toward self-sufficiency; supporting aging with dignity; and fostering community connection and engagement. A variety of programs and services targeting each impact area serve over 35,000 San Diego County and Coachella Valley individuals annually, regardless of faith or background.

“Jewish Family Service of San Diego strives to be a trusted, ethical community resource and we thank Charity Navigator for recognizing JFS’s continuing commitment to the community,” said Michael Hopkins, JFS CEO.
