SAN DIEGO (May 6, 2026) — Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS), one of San Diego’s most impactful nonprofit agencies, has partnered with Everytable, the mission-driven company making nutritious, scratch-cooked meals accessible to everyone. Together, the organizations are providing meals to families in several of JFS’s Safe Parking Program sites. Offering hundreds of meals per week to San Diegans currently living out of their cars, support for meals at JFS’s Safe Parking Program lots is provided by generous donors, including Price Philanthropies.

“Our Safe Parking Program interrupts the downward spiral of homelessness for individuals and families who are working hard to secure a place of their own,” said JFS CEO Dana Toppel. “Through the support of donors and Everytable, participants don’t have to worry about if they will have enough money for dinner every night, which provides invaluable peace of mind and dignity. When meals are covered, participants are spared one more painful tradeoff between food and other essentials like gas, hygiene items, medical needs or saving for the future. Money not spent on dinner can instead help them build a financial cushion, moving closer towards long-term stability.”

Everytable’s mission centers on making healthy food accessible to everyone. Through its food equity model, the organization partners with nonprofits to provide fresh, chef-prepared meals at below-market rates. By operating a centralized kitchen, sourcing ingredients at scale, and managing its own distribution network, Everytable keeps costs low while maintaining high-quality meals. This approach helps organizations like JFS stretch limited resources while ensuring that individuals and families experiencing housing instability have reliable access to nutritious food.

What is the Safe Parking Program?

Jewish Family Service of San Diego’s Safe Parking Program helps individuals and families living in their vehicles by providing a safe and secure place to sleep seven days a week. The program offers a pathway out of homelessness and a return to stable housing. JFS operates the program which includes four lots on behalf of the City of San Diego and one lot on behalf of the City of Vista.

The majority of participants struggle with housing affordability, often due to the loss of a job, medical hardship, reduction in work hours or any other unexpected financial challenge. Participants meet regularly with case managers to develop an action plan with an emphasis on finding stable housing solutions, along with additional support such as benefits assistance, career coaching, financial literacy, parenting classes and children’s services.
