Jewish Family Service of San Diego shares a commitment and a responsibility to care for Holocaust Survivors in our community. Today, our Supporting Our Survivors (SOS) program provides support services to more than 500 Survivors in San Diego and Orange County. Read on to learn more about how we help and meet some of the Survivors we serve.
As we approach the High Holidays—a season of deep reflection and renewal—I find myself returning again to a teaching from Rabbi Simcha Bunim. He said that every person should carry two slips of paper in their pockets. One reads: “For my sake, the world was created.” The other reads: “I am but dust and ashes.”
Our annual summer luncheon celebrated members of the JFS Legacy Society, featured guest speaker Barbara Bry, and welcomed Dana Toppel, our new CEO.
