Moving Forward Together

CEO Roundtable Discussion Replay – April 23, 2021

On April 23, 2021 we hosted a virtual CEO Roundtable Discussion with Jewish Family Service’s CEO, Michael Hopkins, JFS Board Chair, Adam Welland, JFS Border Advocate, Eitan Peled, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, Carole Yellen, and Director of San Diego for Every Child, Erin Hogeboom.

A few highlights from our discussion included:

  • Our Migrant Shelter Services infrastructure has expanded greatly since the start of the new year as we continue to see an influx in migrants and asylum seekers needing assistance. As we heard from Eitan Peled, JFS Border Advocate, JFS steps in to welcome families with dignity—providing food, shelter, clothing, and travel assistance. • During the Roundtable, Carole Yellen, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, introduced the launch of the Center for Jewish Care, committed to eliminating poverty and strengthening the community. Our dedicated staff will help members of the Jewish community achieve stability and build resiliency. To learn more about the Center for Jewish Care, visit jfssd.org/centerforjewishcare
  • We also announced our newest initiative, Resilient Communities for Every Child, which will pilot a guaranteed income program to the most vulnerable in our community. We believe this program will fundamentally change the way San Diego addresses child poverty. Read more about this endeavor here.

Thank you for supporting Jewish Family Service during these challenging times. Together we are building a stronger, healthier, more resilient San Diego.
