• Workshop One : The use of personal past to move forward in our lives
If we learn how to reconnect with our past in a thoughtful, planned way, we can help sustain and even increase personal satisfaction in our current life.
• Workshop Two: How to keep my spirit up when my body is aching
We can maintain a positive emotional outlook whether we are dealing with an illness or not. Facing adversity is part of the life process, but we can make adaptations that help us keep our spirits up in the face of life’s challenges.
• Workshop Three: Don’t let fear keep you from growing
& Using our mind to add life to our years
Individuals change throughout the life span, but some older adults react to their advancing years with increasing anxiety and fear. Dealing with this fear and taking healthy risks will enable one to work through life’s uncertainties and continue to experience personal growth. To increase our sense of well-being we must pay attention to how we talk to ourselves. The words we say to ourselves have great power over our mood. A key to successful aging is developing a positive mental attitude that focuses on expanding life choices and not shrinking them.
All workshops will be presented by Bruce Sachs, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist with JFS who specializes in working with older adults.
