JFS Statement RE: Letter By Representatives To Re-Terminate Migrant Protection Protocols

Yesterday, 31 members of Congress – including San Diego County representatives Sen. Alex Padilla, Rep. Sara Jacobs, and Rep. Juan Vargas – urging the Biden Administration to re-terminate the Migrant Protection Protocols program (MPP, aka the “Remain in Mexico” policy). This letter affirms the vehement call Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS) has been making for the last two years to permanently end this dangerous and abhorrent program.

As one of the few legal service providers in the southern border region providing critical assistance to individuals and families impacted by MPP program its inception, JFS has seen first-hand its life-threatening implications for the tens of thousands of vulnerable migrants waiting to exercise their legal, human right to seek asylum.

The Biden administration must decline to reimplement MPP and can do so within the boundaries set by the Supreme Court. Click HERE to read the full letter, then Tweet your support to Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
