Support Groups

You don’t have to go it alone. Support groups offer a chance to connect with people who are going through something similar and can relate to how you feel. Every facilitator on our staff is committed to creating a safe, confidential space for members to share their experiences, motivation, feedback, and encouragement.

Mood Management Group

Living with a mood disorder can be isolating and frustrating. The good news is that mood disorders are manageable. You can live a healthy and productive life filled with meaning and support. Our Mood Management Group shares effective coping strategies to manage symptoms of depression and anxiety in a supportive and social environment. Each member has an opportunity to interact with others with similar experiences, gain insight, set manageable goals, and receive support and valuable resources.

Bereavement Support Group

The journey taken after a loss is different for everyone. Gain a deeper understanding of the mourning process and connect with others on your path toward healing.

PFLAG Support Group

PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is a safe place to find support, education, and advocacy for LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning) persons, their families, friends, and straight allies.

Psychotherapy Support Group

A place to talk about life, work, and relationships; explore issues of identity and self-esteem; and sort through the mix of thoughts and feelings that accompany life’s challenges and changes.

Project SARAH Empowerment Group

Confronting an unhealthy relationship takes courage. Find the support of others who can relate to your experiences and challenge you to grow as you work through them. In order to participate in this group, participants must first meet with a case manager.


Caregiver Support

A bi-monthly support and discussion groups just for caregivers, facilitated in partnership with Alzheimer’s San Diego.

Counseling for Individuals, Couples, & Families

At JFS, we take a collaborative, person-centered approach to counseling. We talk about the things you want to change in your life and work together to help you achieve your goals. Our therapists possess years of experience and you can rely on them to bring their expertise, compassion, and heart to the process.

Individual Counseling

JFS therapists are trained in a variety of modalities, including CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. You and your therapist will decide the best type of therapy for you. Areas of specialty include mood disorders, grief, aging, identity, intimacy, self-confidence, trust, life transitions, relationships, family conflict, parent-child relationships, and coping skills.


Couple/Family Counseling

We empower families with the tools to sort through conflicts, improve communications, and strengthen relationships. Our counselors are specially trained in issues that frequently affect families with children and older couples.


Mood Disorder Program

Our professional staff are specially trained in the diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders. Mood disorders like depression and anxiety often affect entire families. About 1 in 14 Americans suffers. Join our Mood Disorder support group and meet others who understand what you are going through.

I have experience treating mild to severe conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, and substance use issues. My experience includes working with individuals who are facing issues related to trust, self-confidence, identity, intimacy, and grief.  I focus my work on helping each of my clients achieve the goals they have identified for services using known Evidence Based Practice models.

Before becoming a psychologist, I was a teacher and I also worked for the State of New Jersey for ten years.
