Emerging Leaders at JFS

How Does it Work?

Members participate in meetings and events, which vary in theme and structure—from strategic planning meetings and leadership trainings, to JFS volunteer projects and socially-responsible fundraising events. The diversity of opportunities and flexibility of involvement allows members to have a broad and multifaceted impact on JFS and the community as a whole. Members develop lifelong friendships, professional and business relationships, and play a meaningful role in addressing the needs of our community.

Giving circleEmerging Leaders Giving Circle
Giving circles are groups who pool their philanthropic resources, learn about community needs, and achieve a much larger impact together than they could achieve alone. This year, you have the opportunity to learn more about JFS services and community needs, and pool your resources with other Emerging Leaders to make a grant to a JFS program of your choice in early summer 2016.

Once our giving circle is formed, we will meet in:

  • January 2016
  • April 2016
  • June 2016

You can make an impact through the giving circle with an annual gift of at least $360 to JFS, and join this talented group of young Jewish professionals. Join today by making your annual gift online at www.jfssd.org/emerging or by emailing Ashley Harrington at ashleyh@jfssd.org. We are scheduling our January meeting with your input, so sign up today!

Emerging Leaders' 2nd Annual "Operation Curb Appeal" Community Service Project
On April 13, 2014, a group of 12 volunteers spent the day assisting with our most recent Operation Curb Appeal project with the JFS Fix-It Service. Over the course of the afternoon, the volunteers got to know Angel, an older woman who had experienced medical setbacks and needed help cleaning and repairing her home in preparation for a new caregiver. Over the course of four hours, the volunteers removed a truckload of debris from her yard, thoroughly cleaned her home, installed new shelves and a screen door, and re-landscaped her front yard. Now, Angel can can enjoy an afternoon in the yard with her dog Foxie or invite neighbors into her home knowing it is safe, clean, and welcoming.
