BIKKUR HOLIM FRIENDLY VISITOR
Bikkur Holim (visiting the sick) is the Jewish concept of comforting and connecting with those who are ill or isolated.
Our Bikkur Holim Friendly Visitor program matches Jewish volunteers with isolated older adults and ill/homebound individuals within the Jewish community. Friendly visitors fulfill a sacred role by reminding these individuals that they remain important parts of our community.
Clients are matched with volunteers in a one-on-one friendship. Volunteers meet with their match for at least one hour each week to provide companionship and a social connection. JFS program staff create client-volunteer matches based on common interests, hobbies, and location.
