As part of our response to COVID-19, we have increased the capacity of our Loonin Family Kitchen from 400 meals to 1,600+ meals daily. Now running two shifts, we are delivering meals to the most vulnerable older adults in our community. To meet this increased demand, JFS has transitioned the kitchen to be non-kosher until further notice. JFS has procured pre-made kosher meals for those who require them and is still delivering them via our Foodmobile meal delivery service.
A member of Meals on Wheels America, Foodmobile delivers nutritious, home-style meals to adults ages 60 and older. This service is also available to younger adults with disabilities that prevent them from leaving their home.
Meals are prepared daily in our onsite kosher Loonin Family Kitchen and delivered by a caring team of volunteers. We also offer low-sodium, gluten-free, and vegetarian options.
With every visit, we check in on your well-being and can connect you to other JFS services, including home-safety improvements, transportation, and care management. Even more than a meal, Foodmobile delivers peace of mind.
“Your drivers are wonderful – always friendly and caring. I don’t know what I’d do without your service!”
With Foodmobile, you can arrange a delivery schedule that fits your needs. We operate Mondays-Fridays, 10:30am-1:30pm, with frozen kosher meals available for weekends and holidays. Low sodium options are available upon request. Meal delivery is available on a sliding scale. Call or start the process online to see if you are in our service area.
Somewhere in our neighborhood, there’s an older adult who relies on Foodmobile. For many, this is the only hot meal and friendly visit they have that day. Together, we can bring more to their table.
Every day, older adults in our community come together to enjoy good food and conversation at our Social & Wellness Centers. Each Center offers a mix of activities and has an atmosphere all its own.
JFS offers a full range of supportive services for older adults in San Diego County, including help with home care coordination, transportation, and social connection.
