JFS has represented individuals in removal proceedings, namely asylees, for nearly ten years. Responding to the needs of the community coupled with a recent grant from the California Department of Social Services, JFS is expanding its Removal Defense Program to include other forms of relief. Through JFS’s Removal Defense Program, attorneys offer high-quality pro bono legal services for individuals in removal proceedings.
JFS also operates a Pro Bono Program that recruits, trains, and mentors volunteer attorneys to represent men and women in immigration court proceedings who would otherwise lack representation.
Our focus is on providing family and minor immigrants with legal assistance.
1. Legal consultations to analyze each client’s case and identify potential forms of immigration relief.
2. Legal representation of immigrants before the Executive Office Of Immigration Review (EOIR) / Immigration Court and before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
If you would like to schedule a consultation please call (858) 637-3365 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
JFS relies on dedicated pro bono attorneys and volunteers. Currently, we are in need of:
1. Volunteers to take on pro bono cases for individuals in removal proceedings or affirmatively applying for immigration benefits.
2. Translators who are able to conduct volunteer translation in any language. We have frequent need for individuals who speak Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Somali, Arabic, Creole, Creole, Farsi, and French.
If you are interested in volunteering with our Removal Defense Program, or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Litigation Coordinator, Vanessa Dojaquez, at email@example.com.
